White supremacy is in the words we use to describe the Europeans who formed the original 13 colonies.We call them colonists or Puritans, not colonizers or refugees.We call their systematic hostility to the Native peoples as self-defense, not genocide.We do the same for later historical events.We say that the ‘settlers’ who pushed relentlessly West were part of our ‘Westward expansion’ and our ‘Manifest Destiny’.We do not call these people invaders, who repeatedly violated treaties made with the Native peoples.
